MONAE AMOUR DESIGNS is a mother-and-daughter brand born in Queens, New York, focused on one-of-a-kind accessories which blend strength and softness.

MAD was named after Angel DuBose’s daughters, her oldest Jamorra-Monae, and her youngest JoliAmour. MAD is about the relationship between girlhood and its transition into womanhood; every design crafted by the inspirations of family, faith, and community.

An artisanal brand with an intentionality towards craftsmanship and sustainability, the many fabrics used include leather, denim, and up-cycled materials. MAD is a legacy, the commemoration of history and heritage, but it is also the new of modern culture and boldness.

These accessories empower women who are ambitious, creative, and confident, seeking fashion that is personal, eclectic, luxurious, collectible, and timeless.

MOTIVATED. ASPIRED.

DETERMINED.

ANGEL S. DUBOSE is a trailblazing fashion and costume designer whose journey in the creative arts spans nearly three decades. Armed with dual degrees, a B.S. in Business Management from Sojourner Douglass College, and an M.A. in Social Public Policy from CUNY, DuBose brings a fusion of artistry and strategy to her work.

The launch of her career began as an assistant for iconic Tommy Hilfiger, and Portolano, where she honed her expertise on the sales floor. Since 1995, DuBose has been the mastermind behind her independent brand, MONAE AMOUR DESIGNS, a heartfelt tribute to her daughters, Jamorra Monae and Joli Amour.

The brand encapsulates her philosophy: Motivated, Aspired, and Determined. Specializing in leather goods, bikinis, and lingerie for exotic dancers, DuBose's designs celebrate the evolving essence of mothers and daughters, merging boldness with elegance.

Angel’s dynamic career includes three years of costume and tailoring experience with luminaries such as Mary J. Blige, Rosalia, Pitbull, and productions at Neil Simon Theatre and 'The Wiz.'

Her meticulous attention to detail and mastery in pattern drafting, costume construction, and wardrobe management have made her an indispensable asset to major tours and Broadway stages. Not just a designer, Angel is also a visionary educator, inspiring the next generation as a teaching artist.

She has developed arts-integrated programs for students, empowering them to blend math and literacy with costume/ fashion.
